"Thank you. As I was a kid growin'up, my dad was
a western freak, always watching western on the television. It was OK.
Except on the sunday night, there was a show called Ed Sullivan that
had all the rock bands on, and HE wanted to watch Bonanza ! Oh ! You
get Bonanza over here ? I'm sorry about that ! So, you know what I mean
when I say all my life I hated Lauren Green. That's OK. But, then, I
grew. I got little older and I became a western freak. So, ............
wherever he is, he is tapdancing in his grave, my father something.
But I also was interested in the sheriff while I was like him, on that
side of the law, lot of rock ......... interest in outlaws. But I was
partly interested in what it 'd like to be the sheriff. This is a song
set at the San Diego border station, and it's about a young border patrolman
get out of the army and go to work for the INS, and that's a confusing
job, and there's a Mexican writer, Carlos Fuente, who said California
was Mexico until 1848, and that the border's really just a scar. It's
hard to know where the line really is." >>> Paroles et traduction de The line Cirkus, Stockholm (Suède), (13 mars 1996) "Thank you ... Thanks ... This is ... this is a song
that's set at the San Diego border station ... you get a lot of young
guys coming out of the army and go to work for the border patrol ...
and ... a Mexican writer, a Mexican writer, Carlos Fuentes ... said
... you know, California was Mexico 'till about 1840 / 48 and so the
border's more like a scar, than a border. So these guys go to work down
there and I think it's a real ... it's a hard job to know where the
... where the line always is." >>> Paroles et traduction de The line Brixton Academy, Londres (UK), (24 avril 1996) "This next song is a song set in the San Diego border
station. What you get in Southern California is a lot of young guys
that come out of the army and end up going to work for the border patrol.
It's a real confusing job. I think there's a mexican writer, Carlos
Fuentes, said that since California was Mexico 'till about 1848, and
so that the border there, is more like a scar than a border line. This
is a song about a young border patrolman trying to figure out just where
that line really is." >>> Paroles et traduction de The line Palais des Congrès, Paris (France), (26 mai 1997) "Thank you. This ... this next song is set on the San Diego - Tijuana border and in southern California, you get a lot of young guys come out of the army, end up going to work for the California border patrol, that's a confusing job, I think the immigration issue was abused very badly in last American election and I know that that happens here also, and huh ... So this is ... in the States, there's always been people coming across the southern frontier, doing jobs that nobody else wants to do, for pay nobody else wants to take, at the behest of American businesses, and huh ... in return they get little medical care if the kids got sick, or they ... kids 'd have a shot, they'd have a better education, but this is a song about a young ... young border patrolman who finds himself in the middle of all this, I guess, trying to figure out where the ... where the line really is down there."
